About the Event
From a very young age we are encouraged to consider what we want to be when we grow up. Our parents, teachers, friends, and society more generally demand that we identify the answer to this question, and inevitably we make our best guess as to the answer and start down the path. Hopefully this is one that leads us to a job that pays, and our career (whether we see it that way or not) has begun.
If we’re lucky somewhere along the journey we begin to identify the things we are good at, we start to carve out our path by developing our skills, reputation & interests, and if we are lucky we find a job that matches our strengths and interests and provides financially and emotional rewards for our efforts. If we’re not lucky we may find it hard to find the job we want, one that pays little or no money, or , and maybe even worse, we find a job that’s pays well but makes us feel depressed and miserable.
How many people do you know who are dissatisfied with the job or career? How often has this topic been part of the Coaching or Mentoring relationships you have supported?
In Coaching & Mentoring we are collaborators in other people development journey and the conversations we facilitate are explored in the context of peoples professional and personal lives. Work, jobs, and careers all feature regularly and are common development agendas. So how can we help our clients to develop their own potential and career options in a meaningful way?
There are many tools and techniques that we can deploy in these situations, and in this session we will take time to discuss what they may be. We will however begin by exploring the Japanese concept of Ikigai, this is described as ‘your reason for being’. Identifying you ikigai is about identifying your life purpose, or your bliss. In other words finding the things that bring you joy mean work doesnt really feel like work, and means you are inspired to get out of bed every day.
This session is exclusively offered to you our Yorkshire Accord Coach/Mentors and is suitable for those who are new to role ort hose with more experience. It may have an added interest to those of your who are also contemplating career changes or simply wish to review how well the work they do currently aligns with their own Ikigai!
